April 21, 2013

The third graders in Room 13 are planning and writing their realistic fiction stories.  Realistic fiction is defined as a story that is not true though it could really happen.  It has characters, a problem, and a solution that could be real.

In math we are studying fractions and learning about equivalent fractions.  Next week we will continue our study of multiplication and division.   I am sending home a fact sheet Monday through Thursday for homework.  Each third grader is expected to "recall from memory all products of two one-digit numbers."

In Social Studies, we've finished a study of the Western Migration of pioneers on the Oregon Trail and the Great Migration, the movement north of many African Americans. The test will be on Tuesday, April 30. Our next study in science will be of the grasslands biome.

The Math MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) will be on Friday, April 26 from 12:00 - 12:50 PM.

 Thanks for your support.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Setzer
