Peabody Picnic/Ice Cream Social

Description: Volunteers set-up, scoop ice cream, and clean up during this fun family event to kick off the new school year. Coordinators plan, purchase supplies, organize, advertise the event, and communicate with school staff.

Kindergarten Screening

Description: The week before school begins, incoming kindergartners meet with their teachers to assess each child's various skill areas. Assist teachers in collecting all necessary paperwork from the parents.

Picture Day

Description: Assist the photographer and teachers with individual student pictures. We all appreciate someone smoothing down that stray hair and encouraging a natural smile.

Field Days
Date: September 13 (K-3) and 14 (4-5)
Time: 8:30 - 3:00
Description: A fun day in the sun with games and contests in the schoolyard. Volunteers are needed for setup, to supervise games, help serve lunch, hand out ribbons, and clean up. We are looking for an overall coordinator to assist the PE staff with organizing volunteer support needs for this event.
Commitment: Flexible, let us know when and how long you can work and we'll fit you in.

Vision and Hearing Screening Kindergarten

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon Fall

Description: This is a wonderful tribute to our teachers and staff. Peabody parents bring food to the school for our staff to enjoy during fall conferences. Our coordinators will let you know menu offerings.

Littleton Stride
Date: October 23
Time: morning/afternoon
Description: The Littleton Public School (LPS) Foundation uses proceeds from this event to fund teacher/student grants and District-wide projects. Since 1992 more than 1.3 million has been raised. The event starts at beautiful Ketring Park, just east of Downtown Littleton. There's something for everyone - A 10K/5K run, a 5K walk, a 1K family fun run. Peabody has won the Traveling Trophy in the past - let's try to do it again! The coordinator works with P.E. staff regarding advertising and registering Peabody folks.

Veteran's Day
Date: November 11
Time: Flexible
Description: Veteran's Day is a day to remember and honor those who have served our country in times of war and peace. Volunteers help make and hang decorations during the weeks leading up to the assembly. On event day we need volunteers to greet, direct, an serve our veterans as they come to be celebrated. We also need folks to donate refreshments. Volunteers then help to take down all the incredible artwork and personal stories that will decorate Peabody's hallways and get them back to the children.
Commitment: Flexible, some work can be done from home, let us know what you can do.

Turkey Trot
Date: November 14-16
Time: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Description: Our P.E. Department sponsors the annual Turkey Trot. The kids run/walk laps around the playground. Each lap earns them a ticket and enters them in a drawing to win a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. We need parents to help facilitate. We’ll contact you as to the specific times that you’re needed.

Mom’s/Dad’s Breakfast
Date: April 13
Time: 7:00 – 8:30 am
Description: Every year we have a parent/child breakfast in the spring. This year we treat our Peabody mom’s and of course their kiddos to some of the kitchen staff's famous, tasty cinnamon rolls. We need dad volunteers to help with organizing, setup, serving, and cleanup. We could also use an overall coordinator for this event to organize volunteer shifts, coordinate with kitchen staff, arrange for childcare, advertise event, and communicate to volunteers a reminder for when they are scheduled.

Art Show
Date: April 25
Time: Flexible depending on your availability, some of the work can be done at home.
Description: We need volunteers in the weeks leading up to the Art Show who are willing to prepare the artwork for display and can help hang the artwork in the halls. On the day of the Art Show, we will need volunteers to help direct visitors to the various art displays.
